The HAC is the oldest regiment in the British Army... The Company traditionally traces its origins to 1537, when Henry VIII granted a charter to the Fraternity or Guild of Artillery of Longbows, Crossbows and Handguns. The central portion of Armoury House was completed in 1735 to designs by Thomas Stibbs and the east and west wings of Armoury House were built in 1828.
